Fall 2006 Required Texts

Available at the Longwood University Bookstore:

  • The Necessary Shakespeare, ed. Bevington (2nd ed.).  [ISBN:  0321272501] *
  • Optional:  Shakespeare A to Z, ed. Charles Boyce.  [ISBN:  0385313616]
  • You should also have a good collegiate dictionary, and please acquaint yourself with the location of the Oxford English Dictionary (second edition) in the library at your earliest convenience.
  • The Grainger Review. [To purchase a copy of The Grainger Review for $4.00, take this flyer to the Cashiering office in Lancaster and tell them you want to buy a copy. After you pay the fee, you can present the receipt to Lisa Seamster in the main office of the English department (Grainger 100), who will give you a copy.]

*If you already have a good, annotated edition of Shakespeare (e.g., the Riverside or Pelican), feel free to use it instead. The above edition does not contain all of Shakespeare's works. If you feel that this is the time to buy a complete edition of Shakespeare, the complete Bevington is a good choice, and it contains the same editorial matter and lineation as The Necessary Shakespeare.
