Course Description
This course engages students in a study of major works of Renaissance English lyric poetry. We will begin with a reading of Petrarch's Canzoniere, a major influence on the English lyric tradition. We will then focus on major poems by Wyatt, Surrey, Spenser, Sidney, Shakespeare, Donne, Herbert, and Marvell.
